Galleria Longa ja ikkunagalleria Fönari sijaitsevat Suomen taiteilijaseuran Ateljeesäätiön, Ornamon ja Suomen Kirjailijaliiton rakennuttaman taiteilijatalo Ars Longan kivijalassa Kalasatamassa. Galleriatoiminta sai alkunsa asukkaiden ideoinnin pohjalta 2020 valmistuneeseen taiteilijataloon. Talossamme asuu kuvataiteilijoita, muotoilijoita, kirjailijoita sekä esiintyviä taiteilijoita. Ensimmäinen ryhmänäyttelymme pidettiin kesäkuussa 2020, näyttelykalenterit ovat olleet täynnä sen koommin.
Galleriatoimintamme on voittoa tavoittelematonta, paikallisen yhteisön ja laajemman yleisön kanssa vuoropuheluun pyrkivää toimintaa taiteen välityksellä. Järjestämme näyttelytoiminnan ohella tapahtumia, jonne kaikki ovat tervetulleita. Näyttelytilamme ovat ensisijaisesti taiteilijatalomme asukkaiden näyttelyitä varten. Talon ulkopuoliset taiteilijat ovat myös tervetulleita osallistumaan näyttelytoimintaan talomme asukkaan kutsumana tai kuratoimana. Longassa vaihtuu näyttelyt 3 viikon välein, Fönarissa kuukauden välein. Galleria Longassa on vuosittain n. 2–3 teemallista ryhmänäyttelyä, mutta suurin osa Longan ja Fönarin näyttelyistä ovat yksityisnäyttelyitä. Galleria Longan ja Fönarin toimintaa hallinnoi Ars Longa-talon taiteilijat Ry:n hallitus.
Galleria Longa and the window gallery Fönari are located on the ground floor of Ars Longa, an artist residential building in Kalasatama developed by the Ateljé Foundation of the Finnish Artists’ Association, Ornamo Art and Design Finland, and the Union of Finnish Writers. The gallery programme emerged from ideas initiated by the residents of the artist building, which was completed in 2020. The building is home to visual artists, designers, writers, and performance artists. Our first group exhibition was held in June 2020, and the exhibition calendars have remained fully booked ever since.
Our gallery programme is non-profit and aims to create dialogue through art between the local community and wider audiences. In addition to exhibitions, we organize events that are open to everyone.
The exhibition spaces are primarily intended for exhibitions by residents of the artist building. Artists from outside the building are also welcome to participate in exhibitions when invited or curated by one of the residents.
Exhibitions in Galleria Longa change every three weeks, while exhibitions in Fönari change monthly. Galleria Longa hosts approximately two to three thematic group exhibitions annually, but the majority of exhibitions in both Longa and Fönari are solo exhibitions.
The activities of Galleria Longa and Fönari are managed by the board of Ars Longa House Artists Association.
